NEW CHEESES
Requested by one of the WWWII war brides from France.
Port Salut
(pronounced POOR
sah-LEW)
Originally made by Trappist
monks in France
for their own consumption at the monastery.
SAFR Port Salut is smooth, delicious cheese made in Brittany
on the west coast of France.
Brittany is great dairy territory.
Weighing about 5 pounds, Port Salut is slightly moist and colored,
with regular traces of the plastic-covered cloth used in production.
An exquisite cheese with an orange rind and pale-yellow interior.
A perfect partner for fruit and goes well with rye bread.
or any cheese
assortment.
And 2 more French specialties
EXPLORATOR TRIPLE CREME CHEESE
>From Ile de France, Explorateur has a velvety texture and fruity
flavor.
An excellent triple crème, its rind is less downy and thinner
than that of the Saint Andre and more sophisticated in appearance,
yet its flavor is equally fruity, buttery and just as friendly.
Two-week shelf life. Sold by the piece. Recommended wines are Bordeaux.
PIE D'ANGLOYS
The French voted it "Cheese of the Year".
>From the legendary Burgundy region of France,
this cheese is brushed with wine as it ages.
The pale pate is soft and spreadable, not runny.
Perfect on a slice of crusty bread.
This delicate, buttery cheese pairs beautifully with a rich chardonnay
See you soon.
